DEMA Show 2021 Update: Las Vegas is Open for Business!


DEMA is closely monitoring convention activity scheduled in Las Vegas as plans are prepared for DEMA Show 2021.

We are excited to share that, as Las Vegas re-opens for conventions and meetings, the following in-person shows (with historical attendance of 5,000+) are scheduled for the 2021 calendar year.

These large face-to-face shows will help guide DEMA’s preparations to ensure DEMA Show 2021 provides a safe and quality meeting environment for all our exhibitors and attendees.

DEMA Board of Directors Elects Officers for 2021

 The Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) has announced that Dan Orr, Dan Orr Consulting has been elected to the office of DEMA Board Chair. Orr was elected by members of the current Board of Directors utilizing procedures outlined in the Association bylaws. The election was conducted for the new year during the first regular meeting of the DEMA Board of Directors.

The DEMA Board of Directors has also voted in the following Officers:

  • Patrick Hammer, Dive Right In Scuba, Senior Vice Chair
  • William Cline, Cline Group Advertising, Vice Chair
  • Tom Leaird, Scuba Educators International (SEI), Secretary/Treasurer

All A-category DEMA Members who had joined or renewed their DEMA Membership for 2021 by 1/18/21 were eligible to vote in this election. The final vote count is available for DEMA Members who are logged into the Members-Only Dashboard of www.dema.org.

Voting is Now Open for the 2021-2023 Board of Directors Election

 DEMA's 2021-2023 Board of Directors election will take place between December 14, 2020 and 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time on January 25, 2021.

All 2021, A-category DEMA Members who join by 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time on January 18, 2021, the date-of-record for this election, are eligible to vote.

DEMA Backs Great American Outdoors Act

 With backing from DEMA and other outdoor recreation associations, the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) was signed into law on August 4th by President Trump. The original bill was sponsored by Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), and co-sponsored by a bipartisan coalition of 59 other Senators, and it passed the Senate by a broad bipartisan vote of 73-25. The bill also passed in the House with another bipartisan vote of 310-107.

GAOA fully funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) at a level of $900 million annually and addresses the approximately $20 billion maintenance backlog on federal public lands through a new "National Parks and Public Lands Legacy Restoration Fund.” The bill helps address priority repairs in national parks and on other public lands by directing up to $9.5 billion over five years to address maintenance needs within the National Park System, other public land agencies, and Bureau of Indian Education schools. It will also fully and permanently commit $900 million per year to the Land and Water Conservation Fund to ensure protection of, and access to, irreplaceable lands, waters and local recreation opportunities.
